Mind Maps for Dummies Whether you’re writing an essay or making a presentation, a great way to start brainstorming is mind mapping. Here is a basic but effective technique.
1. Start by putting the main topic in the center of your mind map.
2. Then, using lines, create subtopics all around your main topic. This can be branched out as your main ideas or just the intro, middle and end of a project.
3. After making your subtopics, jot down any ideas/thoughts for each sub-topic branch
4. Now you’ll have a visual layout of your topic and you can customize it any way you like!
